My Rain

It's rain
Come to wash your tears away
Your fears, your sorrows
Listen to it as it hits your window
then as it gains momentum

I am alone at home
And as soon as I hear the tiny splashes
I welcome it like a long lost friend

Where have you been, rain?
I have missed you so
You just disappeared after June
You didn't even greet me in Poland
I was very disappointed
Your cousins, the clouds, were there though
They didn't know when you were coming
Said that you didn't know yourself either

I longed to see you all summer and the coming fall
But you didn't come
I thought I'd never see you again
And now you have finally decided to come back to me
You have made me a happy person once again
But rain? Can you do me a favor?
Come with me to Poland next time, won't you?
It was so sad without you

As the rain hits my window
I listen to its rythem
It seems to be never ending
Like the sun
I sigh, trying to forget the day's troubles
I hope the rain will stay with me forever
Like my heart will

But the rain has other friends and so she must go
But, she says, she will be back
She will never leave me for good
As I think of that and write this poem, I smile
The rain will be with me forever
Perhaps not everyday
She will have to leave me sometimes for great whiles
But she will always come back
And I will welcome her with arms open wide
And with a smile on my face
